This allows us to focus entirely on your care with transparent pricing and no surprise bills. We provide detailed superbills that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. We're exploring insurance partnerships for the future.
Yes — we serve patients statewide across all of Utah. Because our practice is fully telehealth-based, your location within the state doesn't matter. Whether you're in Salt Lake City, St. George, Moab, Logan, or anywhere in between, you can access the same high-quality primary care from the comfort of your home.
We are licensed to see patients in every Utah county, including Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, Weber, Washington, Cache, Tooele, Box Elder, Uintah, Sanpete, Iron, Carbon, Sevier, Emery, Millard, Kane, Summit, Wasatch, Garfield, Juab, Grand, Beaver, Rich, Piute, Wayne, Daggett, and San Juan counties. No matter how remote your community, if you have an internet connection, we can provide care.
Explore all our telehealth servicesAbsolutely, and this is exactly why we built a telehealth-first practice. Rural Utahns often face long drives to reach a primary care provider, and specialist wait times can stretch for months. Our virtual clinic eliminates those barriers entirely. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a stable internet connection — no long commutes, no waiting rooms.
Yes. Higher Standard Primary Care & Wellness PLLC is fully licensed and operating under Utah state law. Our Family Nurse Practitioners hold active Utah board certifications and comply with all Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) requirements for telehealth practice. We also follow all federal and state regulations regarding electronic prescribing and HIPAA-compliant care delivery.
Utah has some of the strongest telehealth patient protections in the country. Under Utah's Telehealth Parity Law (Utah Code § 26B-4-801), insurers and providers must deliver the same standard of care via telehealth as they would in person — meaning your virtual visit with us carries the same clinical weight as a face-to-face appointment. We also comply fully with the federal Ryan Haight Online Pharmacy Consumer Protection Act, which governs controlled-substance prescribing via telemedicine, and with HIPAA's privacy and security rules for all electronic health information. On privacy: every video session is end-to-end encrypted, your records are stored in a HIPAA-compliant EMR, and your information is never sold or shared with third parties. You have the right to access, amend, and receive an accounting of your health records at any time — the same rights you would hold with any Utah healthcare provider.
Yes! Research shows that telemedicine is highly effective for most primary care needs. Our video consultations allow for comprehensive health assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and prescription management. We can evaluate symptoms, review lab results, adjust medications, and provide ongoing care—all through secure video technology.
Our support team is available to help! We recommend testing your connection 5-10 minutes before your appointment using the "Test Your Connection" link. If you experience issues during your consultation, you can call our support line, and we'll help troubleshoot or reschedule if needed at no additional charge.
Your privacy is our top priority. We use HIPAA-compliant, end-to-end encrypted video technology that meets all federal healthcare privacy standards. Your consultation is completely secure and confidential, just like an in-person visit. No recordings are made without your explicit consent.
Absolutely! Our video platform works seamlessly on smartphones (iOS and Android), tablets, and computers. Just make sure you have a stable internet connection and a quiet, private space for your consultation.
An acute care visit is a focused 20-minute telehealth appointment designed for sudden, short-term health concerns that need prompt attention — things like sinus infections, strep throat, UTIs, ear infections, pink eye, rashes, minor injuries, or a sudden flare of a known condition. Unlike a new patient consultation (which covers your full health history) or a follow-up visit (for ongoing chronic care), an acute care visit zeroes in on one specific issue so you can get a diagnosis, treatment plan, and prescription — if needed — quickly. The cost is $65 flat, with no hidden fees. You can book same-day or next-day when slots are available. If your concern turns out to be more complex than a single acute issue, your provider may recommend converting to a longer visit type.
Book an acute care visitWe can treat a wide range of conditions including acute illnesses (colds, flu, infections), chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, asthma), mental health concerns (anxiety, depression), skin conditions, allergies, and more. We also provide preventive care, prescription management, and weight management services.
Yes! We can prescribe most medications electronically and send them directly to your preferred pharmacy. This includes new prescriptions, refills, and medication adjustments. Please note that certain controlled substances may have restrictions based on state regulations.
If lab work or diagnostic imaging is needed, we can order tests electronically and coordinate with local facilities near you. You'll visit the facility for the test, and we'll review your results during a follow-up video consultation and discuss next steps in your care plan.
Yes! We provide compassionate mental health support including screening, evaluation, and treatment for anxiety, depression, stress management, and other mental health concerns. We offer counseling, medication management when appropriate, and referrals to specialists if needed.
Absolutely! Our comprehensive weight management program includes personalized nutrition planning, exercise guidance, behavioral modification strategies, and medication options (including GLP-1 medications) when appropriate. We provide ongoing support and monitoring to help you achieve your health goals.
We use Optimantra EMR, a secure patient portal where you can access your medical records 24/7. You can view test results, download visit summaries, request prescription refills, and message your provider securely. You'll receive login credentials after your first appointment.
Prescription refill requests are typically processed within 24 hours. You can request refills through your patient portal or during a follow-up consultation. We'll send the prescription electronically to your preferred pharmacy for quick pickup.
Yes! We can request your medical records from your previous healthcare provider with your authorization. This helps us provide comprehensive, informed care based on your complete health history. Simply let us know during your first appointment, and we'll handle the transfer process.
We offer flexible scheduling designed to fit your busy life—no need to take time off work! Weekday appointments are available after hours (evenings), and weekend appointments are available from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Check our booking page for current availability.
We understand that schedules change. Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a $50 fee. You can cancel or reschedule through your patient portal or by contacting our office.
New patient consultations are 45 minutes to allow for a comprehensive health assessment. Follow-up visits are typically 20 minutes, mental health and weight management consultations are 45 minutes, acute care visits are 20 minutes, and chronic disease management visits are 30 minutes. We ensure adequate time to address all your concerns.
Yes! Continuity of care is important to us. You'll work with the same Family Nurse Practitioner for all your appointments, allowing them to develop a deep understanding of your health history, goals, and preferences. This builds a strong provider-patient relationship over time.
Payment is due at the time of visit. We accept credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA accounts, electronic bank transfers, cash, and checks. We also offer flexible payment plans for qualifying patients—just ask our staff for more information.
Our weight management and hormone management programs run as month-to-month subscriptions at $150/month each. Your subscription covers the initial consultation plus all follow-up visits within that program — no extra per-visit charges. You can cancel any time. This model lets us focus on ongoing, coordinated care rather than one-off visits, which tends to produce better outcomes for both of these conditions.
Learn more about our pricingYes! We provide detailed superbills with diagnostic and procedure codes that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. While we don't bill insurance directly, many patients receive partial or full reimbursement from their insurance plans.
We want healthcare to be accessible to everyone. We offer payment plans and financial assistance programs for qualifying patients. Please speak with our staff to learn more about available options and how we can work with your budget.
